Junior Deputy Supreme Tall Cedar
Harvey A. Willard, Jr.
Better known as Bud Willard, as a young boy,
he was raised on a farm in King of Prussia. During his school years he
played football, baseball & ran track before graduating from Upper Merion
High School.
His other activities during his high school years include being a Boy Scout,
Eagle Scout & Explorer. Not to mention his early start in Free Masonry,
becoming a Past Master Councilor, Chevalier & Representative DeMolay.
While working at Finnaren & Haley paints he attended St. Joseph’s
University, Spring Garden College & the University of Pennsylvania that
helped promote him through the ranks from chemist to VP. One of his many
major accomplishments includes the development of the Philadelphia
Historical Colors for Old Philadelphia.
After getting married to Nancy and having 2 children he found time to join &
was raised in Charity Lodge #190, Free and Accepted Masons then quickly
joining the Norristown Forest #31 Tall Cedars of Lebanon.
This is where he became a Tall Cedar Clown.
One of the many things that he did was to visit The Children’s Hospital of
Philadelphia & St. Christopher’s Hospital entertaining sick & terminally ill
children every month for 10 years. During that time he became president of
the clown unit, headed the Prologue & Royal Court team (which he is still
very active in), became Grand Tall Cedar, life member of the Officer Past
Officer Club & President of the Norristown Cedar Club. As president of the
Cedar Club he was the building chairman, designer and overseer of the
construction of the new cedar building that was opened the same year his son
became Grand Tall Cedar of Norristown Forest.
Some of the other highlights of his life include:
Award recipient of the Chapel of the Four Chaplains for his charity work
within his community and for children. Past President, Captain & Man of the
Year for the Humane Fire Company in Norristown, PA. Certified advanced first
aide & CPR instructor. Past Master of Norristown Lodge #620. Senior
instructor for the 5th Masonic district.
He is still a very big part of his family’s life and active in his community
doing such things as playing an active role in his grandchildren’s lives and
their sports. He is also a past president & treasurer of his home owners
association and is ending his 5 years as the Supreme Treasurer of the Tall
Cedars to be come the Junior Deputy Supreme Tall Cedar.
He has been very active with the Supreme Forest for the past 30+ years
serving on many committee’s, like 5 time convention chairmen, Aide to 3
Supreme Tall Cedars, Foundation Secretary, Provost Guard, Convention Parade
Features, Parade Marshal, Sites Committee and many more.
